Inspiring Interiors: A Serene Greek Retreat

Ever since our trip to Greece last May, I have been just dying to get back.  I fell deeply in love with the beauty of that country in particularly the islands (but how could you not).  Luckily there are so many different places to explore like Crete, Corfu, Rhodes and Hydra, which makes for a perfect excuse to go back.  When I stumbled across this breathtaking interior in Hydra it moved going back to the top of my list, even though as you saw from my last post it probably will not happen this year.  These interiors are serene and peaceful - which is the one aspect of their design aesthetic that I couldn't get enough of while visiting. I found looking at the bright white walls therapeutic and calming but enlivening at the same time.   On a final note, I would give almost anything to wake up to that breathtaking view in the last image everyday!

Inspiring Interiors: A Melange of Old and New

My dream Paris apartment might just be this - the decorative elements of old grandeur - parquet floors and gilded crown molding mingling with modern and approachable furniture.  Typically I like to steer clear of pieces with rounded lines, however, I think that here, it really balances out the room.  What do you prefer old grandeur or fresh and modern?

A Luxurious Life:: Miranda Brooks

 Do you remember how last week I was singing the absolute praise of Miranda Brook's Brooklyn townhouse that was featured in Vogue? Well, finally the photographs have surfaced digitally and I want to share them with you just in case you missed the feature.  I love the amount of rustic English charm infused into each room; I adore every room in particularly her work space - it is airy with the perfect amount of light filtering into the space.

A Luxurious Life: Lily Maddocks

The Hampton's home of swimwear designer Lily Maddocks is really up my design aesthetic alley.  She infuses just the right amount of color and texture. I particularly love her dining area - I mean wouldn't you love to eat in such a brightly colored room?   I also love the subdued tones in her bedroom that mimic the same shades found by the sea.

Inspiring Interiors:: Hollywood Regency with a Twist

I am a fan of many decorating styles, but Hollywood Regency tends to be one of my favorites.  It is subtly glamorous with all of the right opulent details.  I adore the use of color and patterns, typically I would not gravitate towards a leopard chair, but done here it just works

Interior to Outfit: Blue Accents

Thank you everyone for your sweet comments yesterday, they mean so much. So many things have been happening over here, yesterday, I worked on a photo shoot here in Brooklyn with Tamra of Everswoon - can't wait to show you the results!

Now onto interiors and fashion: There are so many facets about this bedroom that I love, I am not sure exactly where to start. I love a tonal color palette in the bedroom that features a cascade of shades, especially calming blues as shown here.  I also adore the graphic black and white bench and the neutral curtains and bedding that anchor the room in a sea of blues.  Do you like varying tones of the same shade, or do you prefer different colors?

Inspiring Interiors:: Elegant in Manhattan

I love the neutral tones of this apartment, slightly muted but definitely glamorous.  I love the silvery shades in the sitting room and bedroom and the bright white kitchen accented with marble - gorgeous!

I just wanted to thank everyone for their sweet comments yesterday, seriously, it is your comments that make me strive to bring this blog somewhere, so thank you from the bottom of my heart:).

Interior Elements:: Southwestern Rugs

Well we made it through Sandy. Her winds were incredibly powerful but luckily we did not loose power, just our internet and cable.  Once the rain stops I plan on going near the East River, sadly I heard that Brooklyn Bridge Park is under some serious water.

Now back to the good stuff - Until I saw these two interiors, I had never been one for a Southwestern style rug; before, I always thought that they looked very dated, especially in muted colors. However, seeing these images I am now humming to a different tune. I love the bold geometric color and how it has the ability to make a statement in both rooms. Below are some that I currently have my eye on, in particularly the pink and grey option - it is so pretty! Do you like this style of rug, or do you like to play it safe when it comes to home textiles?

Interior to Outfit: Doses of Color

When it comes to decorating, I might have said this before - I love color, which is why I love this room.  I particularly like how the two cerulean blue chairs are the focal point, while vibrant shades of orange, red and green anchor the room's white base.  Do you prefer a muted interior or a room with bright and vivid colors?

A Luxurious Life: Jill Stuart

I love the serene simplicity of Jill Stuart's Long Island home.  I adore how there is a great amount of white that really allows for the small amounts of color that she incorporated to to really stand out.  Continue for more..

A Luxurious Life: Alina Cho

Every once in a while I will come across an interior that makes me want to redecorate. This is definitely the case after lusting over this living room belonging to Alina Cho. I adore how color has been incorporated in all of the right places, from the tufted pink bench to the dark green sofa with white piping and subtle hints of gold.

A Luxurious Life: Nina Garcia

Some people just have an innate eye for style and beautiful things. This is definitely the case for Nina Garcia, fashion editor and judge on Project Runway.  Her eye for style definitely translates into her her Upper East Side apartment featured in the October issue of Architectural Digest.  I particularly like her living room and bedroom (okay, and what is in her closet!) that is filled with soothing neutrals like gray and camel.

Inspiring Interiors: Modern and Eclectic

The past few mornings I have been woken up by a crisp breeze that can only come about with the beginnings of fall.  I just can't help but become excited about the start of one of my favorite seasons that is dedicated to concord grapes, apple picking, pie baking and wondering around admiring the vivid colors that tint each leaf.   This time of year also makes me rethink decorating, especially adding a layer of warmth which is typically removed during the hot summer months.  I love this newly remodeled bedroom of Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner - something about it says cozy in a modern way.   Their apartment is a fabulous combination of modern and eclectic.  You can tour the rest of her apartment here.  I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Inspiring Interiors - Colorful Modern

I nearly gasped when I saw this apartment, in particularly the living room.  The subdued and soothing bluish/periwinkle tones are just fantastic.   I also love how bright fuchsia is added into the second photograph creating a more modern feel among such classical moldings.  I tend to steer clear of modern design, but there is something about this that I just like. I am only questioning the tile bed frame, something doesn't really say comfort, but I guess that is modern for you.

Thank you for all of your kind wishes yesterday, seriously they mean so much!

Inspiring Interiors - The Perfect Colors

 If I were to pick my favorite color palette for my apartment it would be this.  How gorgeous are these rooms? I love the silvery blue tones paired with the yellow and pink touches and how there are bits of glamour woven in whether through the crystal chandelier or parlor doors.

 I am stepping away from the computer this weekend for a few reasons - first, I am excited to meet my boyfriend's new niece born yesterday and something else that I have been working on that will be revealed next week. I hope that everyone has a great weekend!

Inspiring Interiors - Touches of Grey

 After stumbling across these interiors, it made me question why a grey color palette is not on my list of favorite things.  There is something incredibly soothing about a gray and white room with a few additions of color -  here, the array of plants provide bits of green to break up the muted color scheme.   Do you think that gray is blah, or that grey is the new neutral?
