Fashion Essential: The White Oxford Shirt

I hope that everyone had a great weekend!  With fashion week in full swing that means one thing - street style photographs are everywhere. New York temperatures have been a bit crazy one day is sweltering hot and the next is perfectly comfortable.  One piece that has been spotted is the white oxford shirt, a closet staple for any season.  It instantly adds polish to any bottom, whether a structured pencil skirt or a pair of high-waisted denim.  Here is a roundup of some of my favorite looks and key pieces to help achieve it.  I hope that everyone has a great week!

A Guide to {Faux} Fur Jackets

Happy Monday all! I hope you had a restful and fun weekend.  For some reason the weekends seem to be going faster and faster and I am sure that this will be the case next weekend when two of my sisters come to visit!  

It is officially that time of year when the warm jackets need to be pulled to the front of the closet. After having a beautiful day here Saturday (temperatures were in the 70s), Sunday was just the opposite, cold and windy.  I typically have a thing against wearing jackets, but it doesn't bother me if it involves faux fur.   Here are some of my picks for different varieties of jackets - which do you like best?  

Fall Boot Round-Up

The weather here in New York seems to be tipping the scales towards fall and this means a few things, one being boots and booties can come out in full force either dressed-up or dressed-down. Last year near the end of the season I was on a boot kick, buying a few pairs that were on sale, this year I am looking for a great pair of navy boots that can transition from work to play and a pair of boots for everyday.  These are just a few that I am currently dreaming about, what are you looking forward to wearing this fall?

Fashion Essential:: Printed Skirt

 I hope that everyone had a great long weekend!  The weather here put a little damper in our plans (it was really overcast and extremely humid) so our beach trips never came to fruition. Instead, we spent the days either in Brooklyn or Manhattan, which was nice because everyone pretty much left town.  Yesterday we went to Cold Spring, New York, a beautiful haven situated along the Hudson (photos to come!).  On another note, can you believe it is September and that fashion week is just around the corner?
Speaking of fashion, when it comes to Pinterest, I find myself coming into phases where I pin different looks that are very similar.  Recently, it has been all about printed skirts skirts that ooze femininity and polish.  Below are some of my favorite picks to lead into fall.  I hope everyone has a great short week!

A Metallic (Shoe) Moment

Metallic shoes are having a major moment. It seems that everywhere I look, I see pairs of shoes with highly reflective surfaces.  Perhaps it is because the holidays are coming up, or perhaps not? Maybe these shoes are here to stay,  I sure hope so!  Here are just a few that I am currently coveting.

The Perfect Transition Jackets

My love for a leopard jacket definitely stems from Kate Moss.  I love how this print adds a bit of understated glamour, especially when paired with more subdued pieces.

An Ode to the Flapper

One of my favorite books of all time is The Great Gatsby.  It is a heartbreaking love story at its core but it also takes place in a gilded and magical era of fashion.  I personally own two flapper-esque dressers - one vintage, another from H&M from years ago.   Topshop has created a limited-edition capsule collection of dresses, including the two flapper dresses above. Both of these dresses are calling for an invitation to an elegant soiree that will entail dancing under the glimmering stars.

The Perfect Printed Shorts

Summer Boots

I know that many people literally kick-off your boots at the beginning of summer, but summer is actually a time that I like to wear ankle boots.  There is something just a tad bohemian about pairing ankle boots with shorts or a long maxi skirt.  The good news is that these picks will definitely transfer you into fall and winter (but let's not even go there yet).

Spring Fever

Fashion Craving: Mother of Pearl Clutches

I have a love affair with mother of pearl that has lingered for years, ever since I laid my eyes on my grandma's gorgeous fifties box-shaped purses and clutches. This material is utterly glamorous, not to mention luxurious. I have quite the collection of vintage mother of pearl cigarette cases and makeup compacts from Max Factor - they are just gorgeous, I love them, which is why when I saw these clutches, I had to share them.  They are constructed of Abeline shells and accented with gold -  this is what makes me dream.

The Look: Sweaters & Pleated Skirts

Something about the combination of a light-knit sweater and a pleated maxi skirt says chic, but in a cool effortless way.  This look is great for the in-between season that we are currently experiencing.  I am currently craving light, pastel colored sweaters with asymmetrical skirts that hit just around the calf. I also had to include this gorgeous golden metallic skirt that would be perfect on a hot summer evening.

Dreaming About...JCrew Handbags

I recently went into JCrew and was blow away by the over all color explosion, in particularly the vibrant hues of the Edie handbags.  They have a vintage feel with an air of classic elegance.  This is definitely on my lust-list for spring.  What is on your list?
