A Summer Floral Fragrance Guide

Summertime is flower time in my book. Practically every turn you are greeted with ruffled peonies, towering irises and creamy honeysuckle (yes, even in Brooklyn!) whether planted in a garden or at your favorite flower shop.  This time of year is about lightening up and wearing fragrances that are not cloying, but rather give an air of freshness and happiness about them, basically what summer is all about.  I have rounded up some of my favorite for the season by flower type.  What fragrances are you wearing during these warmer months?

Peony
Jo Malone London Peony & Blush Suede - Peony combines with a juicy red apple, rose and jasmine.
Tory Burch - Lush peony melds with creamy tuberose with hints of grapefruit and citrus.
Nest Dahlia & Vines - Pink peony mixes with dewy daffodils and fragrant rose that eludes to a romantic garden.

Iris
Atelier Cologne Silver Iris - Fragrant iris Pallida mingles with pink pepper from China and sits on a base of earthy patchouli and white amber.
Prada Infusion d'Iris Absolute - Top notes of Italian iris and and orange blossom blend with a tonka bean and Madagascar vanilla.
Chloe Love - One of my favorite fragrances...Powdery iris and intoxicating wisteria blossoms mix with talc and rice powder.

Honeysuckle
Diptique Olène - Inspired by an evening in Venice, honeysuckle blends with narcissus and wisteria to create a beautiful floral bouquet.
Aedes de Venustas - The namesake fragrance from the beloved New York City shop that combines tart rhubarb and juicy berries with honeysuckle and tomato leaf.
Aerin Ikat Jasmine - Touches of honeysuckle mingles with jasmine sambac and sandalwood.

Lily
Tom Ford Shanghai Lily - Inspired by the Silk Road, spices mix with a floral bouquet and vanilla to create a fragrance with a bit of mystery.
Odin Roam - A complex fragrance that combines smoky layers of incense with ginger lily and black ebony wood.
Dolce & Gabbana Dolce - A new favorite of the season (if only for the advertising), taking inspiration from Sicily and combining neroli, amaryllis and white water lily to create a beautiful floral bouquet.

  2. I tend to stick to a fragrance once I find one that I like–I don't really switch it up for summer, but I do have two that I rotate between!

  6. You are the queen of fragrances! I love all your picks and I'm in serious need of a new floral summery scent! I'm going to need to print this out and take your picks to Sephora, haha.

  7. Honeysuckle is one of my favorite scents b/c it reminds me of summers spent at my grandparents house. I'll definitely keep those picks in mind next time I'm shopping for perfume. Thanks for sharing!
