Spring's Best Rose Fragrances

Fragrances centered around the rose unfortunately have a bad reputation for being either too powdery, cosmetic or old-fashioned.  However, there is a new crop of fragrances centered around the rose that are just the opposite, they are bursting with freshness giving them a much more modern feel.  Working in the fragrance industry I smell a lot of different fragrances, but truth be told, I have always gravitated towards rose fragrances, my favorites being Stella by Stella McCartneyFrederic Malle Lipstick Rose and L'Occitane Rose 4 Reines.  I have rounded up some of the best new floral fragrances that combine an array of different varieties of this storied and romantic bloom.  If you are put-off by the idea of wearing a rose fragrance, I challenge you to smell some of the fragrances above because I know they will leave you hypnotized.

Chloe Rose de Chloé - Fresh cut roses mingle with a magnolia accord and dry down into a musky, ambery base

Cartier Goutte de Rose - Freshly picked roses evoke a dewy and refreshing aroma

Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme Absolue - Heady Turkish Rose Essence and Turkish Rose Absolute blend with Chinese Ginger and Indonesian Patchouli to give way to a fragrance with depth

Balenciaga Rosabotanica - The flanker fragrance to Florabotanica, Rosabotanica is much more floral combining Experimental Rose, fig leaf and amber

Aerin Lauder Evening Rose - A favorite if only for the packaging, Evening Rose combines Rose Centifolia and luxurious Bulgarian Rose (one of the most expensive ingredients in perfumery) with sweet nuances of blackberry and rich cognac

A Dozen Roses Amber Queen - Combining A Dozen Roses signature Rose Accord, this fragrance also melds apricot, zesty clementine and warming amber

Atkinson Rose in Wonderland - Black currant buds, geranium and vetiver combine to create a dimensional fragrance

Byredo Rose Noir - A refreshing rose scent that pairs grapefruit, freesia, rose damascena and earthy moss

RXR Profumo Lacquered Rose - Turkish rose mingles with mysterious black amber and Spanish cade oil

  1. Oh, I love love love rose-based fragrances and Chloe variations have been one of my most favourite... Really curious about Byredo - will need to give it a sniff. :)

  2. I can't really stand floral scents (as in I like them, but I can't stand to wear them because they make me sick) but I've always wanted to try Florabotanica. It seems sultry!
