A Fragrance Wardrobe {For the Home}

Building a fragrance wardrobe for your house is just as important as creating a collection of perfumes to sit atop your vanity.  Have you ever walked into a home that you cannot stop smelling because it is scented just perfectly?  My love for luxurious candles developed in college and has only gotten stronger since we have a home to call our own.  Burning a candle in any season makes a home feel cozy and well, like home.  There are many different candles to choose from but one thing to think about is choosing different candles in different fragrance categories (a floral, fruit or a wood) to create a home aroma that has depth and even lends a bit of mystery.  To better help you navigate the market, I have picked a few that are my absolute favorite and others that have recently caught my eye.  Do you have a favorite candle? Please tell!

Creating the Perfect {Golden} Bar Cart

 I am very excited because I have just inherited my mother-in-law to be's amazing brass bar cart. Every time I would go over to their house, I would think about how much I needed something exactly like it in our home, well, she was just so nice to give it to us because they are moving and it will not fit into their new home.  I have slowly started to add my favorite white and gold pieces to it, however I couldn't help looking at some inspiration. Here are some key pieces that I would love to add.  I think that every hostess should have one, it adds a glamorous touch to any get together, don't you think?

Jonathan Adler's Happy Chic

Have you seen the great things that JCPenny has been doing?  First it was Pearl by Georgina Chapman of Marchesa now Jonathan Adler also has a collection called Happy Chic.  This collection is signature Adler, bright colors, Greek keys and bulbous vases and lamps. I currently have my eye on that rug (it comes in a variety of colors) and that dresser. You should head on over and check it out!

Home Goods to Covet - Target Threshold Collection

Have you guys checked out the new Threshold collection at Target?  If you haven't you should, some of the pieces are irresistible not to mention easy on the wallet and on the eyes.  Above are just some of the items that I am coveting, in particularly the floral plates, starburst mirror and the tufted bench.  Sometimes I wished that I lived in the suburbs if only for Target, since sadly the ones here in New York City lack a lot of the goods.

Interior Elements:: Southwestern Rugs

Well we made it through Sandy. Her winds were incredibly powerful but luckily we did not loose power, just our internet and cable.  Once the rain stops I plan on going near the East River, sadly I heard that Brooklyn Bridge Park is under some serious water.

Now back to the good stuff - Until I saw these two interiors, I had never been one for a Southwestern style rug; before, I always thought that they looked very dated, especially in muted colors. However, seeing these images I am now humming to a different tune. I love the bold geometric color and how it has the ability to make a statement in both rooms. Below are some that I currently have my eye on, in particularly the pink and grey option - it is so pretty! Do you like this style of rug, or do you like to play it safe when it comes to home textiles?

Gilded Tableware

Over the weekend I walked into Crate and Barrel and mistakenly thought that we had fast-forward to December. There were Christmas decorations everywhere and sleigh-ride music was playing throughout the store. Did I miss something? It isn't even Halloween! What ever happened to enjoying the holiday that is coming up next?  Regardless, the next big holiday that I am already thinking about is Thanksgiving, especially table settings and of course, the menu. Right now, One Kings Lane is featuring gorgeous tableware that I would love to incorporate into my favorite holiday. I am dreaming about a white and gold setting with a rustic feel.  Hop on over!

Opulent Capiz Shell

Capiz shell is one of my favorite materials. It is lustrous and opulent and has the ability to make quite a statement, especially in the home.  I inherited a gilded coffee table with a capiz shell inlay from my great grandmother that I absolutely  cherish.  It is from Palm Beach, Florida circa 1950. This material is still readily available and can be found in many pieces for the home like a lamp shade, coffee table or place mat.    I hope that everyone has a wonderful Monday!

Golden China

I urge you to make a mad dash over to One Kings Lane, the extraordinarily dangerous  website (similar to Gilt) that features the most amazing pieces for the home.  Starting yesterday, brilliant interior designer Kelly Wearstler is being featured in quite a few shops, my favorite being these gorgeous golden china dishes.
