La Dolce Vita

Sweet summer, how quickly you have come and how quickly you have gone.  One of my favorite seasons is now coming to an end and while I am quite sad to bid adieu to the season I am very excited for what is ahead. Let me tell you it is going to be good, so stay tuned.

Why not end the summer with an editorial featuring the jaw-dropping couture dresses from the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Fall 2014 show that took place in Capri a few months back? These stunning photographs appear in the October 2014 issue of Vogue Japan, photographed by Boo George and styled by Anna dello Russo and Giovanna Battaglia.  Have a wonderful holiday weekend and I will see you back here on Tuesday!

Into the Woods

Why not end another week with this florally inspired editorial featured in the September issue of Harper's Bazaar UK, photographed by Erik Madigan Heck.  Just looking at this editorial induces happiness, not sure if it is the bright color, the field of roses or the dreamy gowns, but whatever it is I love it. And don't we all need bits of beauty in our lives?  I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Among Flowers & Pretty Links

I love when editorials stop me in my tracks, such is the case with the Spring 2014 Dior Magazine starring Elizabeth Erm photographed by Camilla Akrans. The garden roses, the petal pink lips, the amethyst eyes, just beauty at it's finest.   I am thoroughly looking forward to this weekend, I am finally back to normal and have been seriously missing both my camera and my kitchen.  I cannot wait to spend some much needed time together and to finally catch up on this space.  I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend! I leave you with some pretty links below.

A (Huge) Thank You

First off I just want to say thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for your thoughts and wishes, I definitely did not think that last Friday I would be going to the emergency room let alone staying for five long days.  I am feeling a bit behind here, so just bare with me as I get back into the swing of things! I have been blessed to never have been hospitalized for anything, ever, so it was definitely an emotional experience for me - I saw and heard a lot that was really upsetting.  As of now I am still waiting in limbo to exactly what caused my spine to become inflamed and to make my entire right side numb. My current fear is that it will happen again and might elude to a larger problem, but for now I am savoring the simple moments when I can feel the sun shine on my face and breathe in fresh air, simple things in life that make me the happiest.

Easing back into the week, I thought I would share an editorial from Muse #37 photographed by Erik Madigan featuring Guinevere Van Seenus. The use of contrast and light is just impeccable. I hope that everyone has a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day and thank you again for your support, you guys are the best.  Seriously :)

Coming Up Roses

Amidst some good news the other week (thank you so much for your kind comments), we also got some bad news - the gazebo where we were going to get married collapsed due to the heavy snow and ice that had been perched atop it for months.  Yes, panic struck in, even though our wedding is going to be very small, I was just about to press 'order' on our invitations.  We were planning on getting married outside the city, where my fiancé is from and then having our wedding reception in Brooklyn.  Sure we could move it inside somewhere, but the only thing that I always dreamed of for my wedding was to have it outside, in the spring, surrounded by blooming trees and fragrant flowers.  We had to develop a plan B, but nothing like waiting until the last minute - our wedding is in mid-May.  Even if we had another idea it would probably be booked, however, my genius man knows me better than anyone else and suggested the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, a favorite sanctuary of mine but the likelihood that they would have a slot open was pretty slim.  Well, good news, our wedding date was the only Saturday they had left in the month! I am so happy that we will be marrying in the enchanting Rose Garden, a wonderful section of the gardens filled with such an abundance of flowers and a dreamy English gazebo, honestly I couldn't ask for more.  One of the things that I love equally to flowers are manicured gardens.  I am so excited and blessed that everything has worked out.  In order to celebrate here are just a few of the beautiful gardens that I have on my Pinterest page that have me not only dreaming of spring but our wedding.   Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

A Bright Outlook

Piggy-backing onto yesterday post, I want to end the week on a bright note with this editorial featured in the February issue of Costume Finland.  I adore the soft and foamy pinks, oranges, moss green and powder blues.  Typically I am not one for girly details like bows, but this feature might have me thinking differently about bows - what do you think? I hope you all have a nice weekend and if you are routing for your team at the Super Bowl I hope they win!

Snow Queen

Pure and pristine is what drew me into the editorial featured in British Harper's Bazaar.  In some ways I am eager for snow to arrive here in New York, especially since it is December and the city is decorated for the holidays.  And on that note, I plan on decorating our house for the holidays and continuing my love for holiday baking.  I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend!

P.S. Don't forget to enter the Papel New York giveaway that will end on Monday. If you have already entered you can enter more than once.  One lucky reader will win a wonderful collection of items from their Brooklyn shop valued at $50!

Fair Maiden

Perhaps it is because I have white dresses on the brain (I still haven't found the one yet) but I would gladly take any of these frocks featured in the December issue of Harper's Bazaar UK .  They are all feminine, not fussy, a bit bohemian and honestly just magical.  I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend!

So it is Fall

What a whirl wind of a week it has been, so much so that I didn't even say Happy Halloween yesterday! I delivered a huge presentation for a client yesterday and it left me scattered brained all week, so you can guess I am happy that it is Friday.  I did manage to eat a few pieces of candy though which made it feel like Halloween even though I did not dress up.  I recently stumbled across this editorial featured in Harper's Bazaar Ukraine. The rich colors, the burgundy lip, bold brows, the architecture and the abandoned castle just pull me in. So do you have any exciting plans for the weekend?  I hope so!

Fields of Gold

So tomorrow is my birthday and I couldn't be happier that it falls on a Saturday this year. Tomorrow we are packing up our Zip car up, with our dog in tow, and heading out of the city to see some foliage and to do some hiking.  Yes, that is what a city girl wants to do on her birthday!  I hope that everyone has a great weekend, but before I leave you, here is a beautiful editorial featuring French beauty Vanessa Paradis posing for Madam Figaro shot by Ellen Von Unwerth.  Isn't the light just magical?

Dream a Little Dream

Looking at these photographs of Georgia May Jagger in Vogue UK's October issue made me daydream about wide open spaces with fields of blooming flowers.  These photographs shot by Venetia Scott are absolutely magical making me yearn to want to escape to the countryside, especially in England.  How I would love to lay in a fragrant blanket of iris, daisies and wildflowers.  Editorials are supposed to take you somewhere, to let you escape your own life if only for a few minutes and these photographs surely did that for me. I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Floral Kaleidescope

I am definitely happy that it is Friday! Yesterday I did something I never do, take a day off in the middle of the week. My fiancé and I went to check out the U.S Open qualifying tennis tournaments, but unfortunately we only got to see about ten minutes of playing time before a deluge of rain decided to sweep in.  I love watching live sports, so even though it was short it was fun!  This weekend should be a busy one, I am incredibly thrilled to be assisting one of my favorite food photographers/food stylists, Vanessa Rees on a photo shoot this Sunday. I am sure to come back here inspired! Speaking of inspiration, how amazing is this editorial from Vision China? I love the kaleidescope of florals and how the multi-printed looks nearly blend in.   I hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend!

An Ethereal Glow

Happy Friday! I have been looking forward to this day all week. We are headed up to Boston to spend Mother's Day weekend with my mom and sisters. I haven't spent a Mother's Day with my mom in far too long, and I am also excited to meet my new nephew!  I recently came across this fashion spread and was immediately captivated by the ethereal light and the gorgeous flowers creating a dream-like setting.  I hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Amid Flowers

Happy Friday! I am going to keep this short and pretty today with a lovely spring fashion spread featuring Olivia Palermo. I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

It's a Colorful World

Boy, it has been a busy week here where days have flown by just like that; howeverI couldn't be happier that it is Friday and that we are going to be experiencing spring-like temperatures here in New York (by spring-like, I mean temperatures in the high 50's).  To bring you into the weekend, I thought I would share an editorial that I came across in
W Magazine featuring Daria Werbowy.  I love how the nature surrounding her is tinted in bright yellows and pinks and how she portrays such a sense of freedom. I hope that you have a great weekend!

Pastel Dream

It has been a difficult week so I am going to keep it short today. This editorial was featured in the January issue of Vogue China, the brightly colored landscape and the feminine pastels just makes me happy.  Until Monday, have a great weekend!

Fields of Cotton

I am very happy that it is Friday and that it has been a short work week!  I feel like I am still recovering from the holidays - I have a lot of catching up to do on the blog and a list of what I want to do that stretches for miles. However, I am trying to approach 2013 with a great deal of serenity and peace and that is exactly what I feel when I look at this editorial. How fun would it be to just run freely amidst the cotton fields?

Dressed to Impress

It is officially holiday party season! From now until New Years Eve, the social calender can get pretty hectic, which is why it is important to have that special dress that can be used in rotation from your office holiday party to your friend's annual holiday soiree.  This editorial features all of the elements that a party dress should have - a dash of sparkle, a bit of glamour and of course a golden touch.    Do you have your dresses all lined up?

A Softer Fall

With all of falls seemingly more dramatic looks - rich brocades and colorful patterns, it is nicer to see a lighter side to the season.  I love the soft palette featured here - barely there nudes, buttery yellows and touches of light-as-air greens.

On another note, fall is a season of change. The trees change from green to golden and then gently fall to the ground.  With change can also come discovery.  One of my really great friends, Michael is embarking on a solo trip to Italy to do just that.  He is going to eat his way through Rome, Naples and the southern coast of Italy and all the while document it through words and photographs.  Please follow him on his travels here, as he embarks on a life changing journey.
