A Weekend Away:: Pawlet, Vermont

I think it is funny how life takes you on a winding path.  You might now know it about me, but my family moved to Vermont from Ohio when I was a freshman in high school and let me tell you, as a teenager, I hated every minute of it.  It was too small, there was nothing to do, the nearest shopping mall was thirty minutes away or almost two hours away (if you wanted a real mall, you know that is very important to a teenager).  When I graduated from high school, I high-tailed it to New York City, I traded the Green Mountains for tall city sky scrapers and never looked back. It has been nearly twelve years that I have been away and a recent wedding brought me back up there on different terms - I found myself relishing in the beauty of the rolling green hills, the wide-open spaces dotted with mountain springs and the field upon field of wildflowers.  I felt fortunate to be able to share a place that didn't really have that great of memories with my fiance and our (beyond happy) dog.  I hope you enjoy these photographs from Pawlet, Vermont and Mount Equinox in Manchester, Vermont.  Continue for more...

  3. So stunningly idyllic. I've only ever been to Vermont once (also for a wedding!) but it was just outside Burlington. This feels more 'authentically Vermont' if that makes any sense. These photos could be from 100 years ago! xo

  10. This is really gorgeous! My mom actually grew up in Vermont and the minute she graduated college she also ran to NYC. I never enjoyed visiting it when I was younger, but I haven't been in years now and I feel like I might enjoy it now.
