Hot chocolate is just divine, but I have to say I have never been a fan of the kind that comes out of a package. For the longest time, my heart and taste buds belonged to City Bakery tucked off lower Fifth Avenue that serves the most amazing hot chocolate in the city. It is so rich and indulgent, you practically only need one sip to get your fix. I was trying to find a recipe that was similar and after my first gulp of this recipe, I knew I had found the one. This recipe is like drinking liquid pudding - yes, it is amazing. I used 72% cocoa so the impact of chocolate delivery was just what I had hoped for - top with freshly made whipped cream and you might have just found yourself a bit of heaven. Continue for recipe...

ReplyDeleteyum!!! That looks so good! and rich....I love a good hot chocolate.
ReplyDeleteCornstarch is the perfect sneaky thickener for a mix like this! I feel sick after I have a whole mug of something with a higher fat content too.
ReplyDeletewow, looks so rich and decadent! and those mugs are too cute! x

Sounds fabulous! I love rich, smooth hot chocolate. Have you seen the movie "Chocolate" with Johnny Depp? It reminds me of this post. :)

If you ask me, there's really no other way to have hot chocolate! This is how I had it when I was over in Italy, it's like drinking a whole bowl of melted chocolate–yum!

Always in the mood for a hot chocolate! Straight through December, I had a little afternoon ritual that involved me and a cup of cocoa. It was always fun to add different flavors. I'll have to try the cornstarch method to thickening so I can skimp on all that whole milk.
ReplyDeleteThis looks absolutely delicious!! And those tea cups are adorable!! xo, Julie

Great timing on this recipe! I had a serious hot chocolate craving late last night so I went to 7-11 (only thing open at 10pm) and it was not so good. I just poured it down the sink. I think the skim milk would def help balance out the super rich chocolate taste. I will have to try this!

ReplyDeleteOh my, that sounds amazing - I'm totally making this one too! I had "Parisian" hot chocolate for the first time the other day and it was amazing - two sips and I was perfectly satisfied, but then I drank the rest of it anyways, whoops!
